Falling Into Routine, Family, and Business

September always feels like a fresh start. School routines are back, the days are getting shorter, and it is the first step into a new season. For me, this time of year brings back childhood memories of coming home after school, playing in the yard, and watching Disney Channel Halloween movies. The smell of apples and cinnamon still makes me think of September.
This year I want to focus on building new routines that keep me grounded. I am going to try making my bed every morning. It is something small, but it feels like an adult habit that can give me an instant mood boost and set the tone for the rest of the day. My self tanning routine is also part of this time of year now that the sun sets earlier and the UV fades. These little habits help me feel refreshed and remind me to lean into the new season instead of holding on to the last one. Lighting fall candles, drinking a seasonal coffee, or even cooking soup or fall desserts makes me feel in the spirit, and I like how changing my environment with small touches sets the mood.
Family is another reason September stands out to me. All of my niece and nephews are in some form of school now, even if it is just a few hours a week. My nephew Floyd is starting to learn his ABCs and how to spell his name. Thinking about the baby I once held now learning to write feels crazy but exciting at the same time. It is rewarding to see them grow, and it makes me want to show up more often to be part of these little moments.
September also brings momentum for my business. People are ready to refresh their homes with fall colors and décor. Sometimes it is as simple as a bow in fall shades or a wreath on the front door, and other times it is me coming in to get their home ready before family and friends gather. I am looking forward to Mule Days and meeting people at the vendor fair, and I am excited to start filling up my calendar with Christmas decorating clients.
For me, September symbolizes more than just a change in the weather. It is about starting new routines that keep me motivated, being present with my family as they grow, and channeling the energy of the season into steady growth for my business. I want to look back at the end of the month and know I stayed consistent, showed up, and made the most of the season.
If you are ready to bring the feeling of fall into your home, I would love to help. From wreaths and bows to full holiday decorating, this is the season to make your space feel special.
